Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a waiting list?

Sometimes there is however we are almost always able to offer you a consultation within 24 hours.  If the Physiotherapist that you specifically wish to see is away or unavailable we will be able to find a spot with one of the others.  You can then easily move back over to your original physio when they are available.

What are your opening times?

First appointments are 7:00am and last appointment is 6:00pm.  That said we often start earlier and finish later than that.  Our reception staff arrive at 7:30am and leave just after 6:00pm so it’s better to telephone within their hours.

Do I need a referral?

No.  You do not need a referral to see us or to claim for private health insurance.  If you are making a WorkCover claim or a Department of Veterans Affairs claim then a Doctors referral is required.  We do like to see referrals from your GP if you have consulted them regarding your condition.

How long are appointments?

Appointments are scheduled a minimum of 30 minutes apart.  We find that in the majority of cases that this is the most appropriate amount of time.  In more complex conditions or for multiple injuries longer appointments can be arranged.

What should I wear?

Loose fitting clothing is best.  Check out our What to wear page.

Do I need to bring X-rays or medical notes with me?

Yes please!  Any investigations or scans relating to the condition will help us understand your presentation better.  Even if you just have the reports from scans they will be very helpful.  Likewise any notes from other Therapists or doctors would be great.  If you don’t have anything then don’t worry just bring yourself.

What can I expect on my first appointment?

See our First appointment page.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on the condition or injury we are dealing with.  It also depends on how much of your recovery will benefit from self help strategies.  We can give you a reasonable idea of how many treatment sessions you will require during the first appointment.

What are your payment terms?

We ask that you pay on the day.  If you have an approved claim for a WorkCover injury then we will bill your insurance company directly and there will be nothing for you to pay

Can I claim through my health fund?

Yes you can claim through the HICAPs system in our clinic.  That means that if you bring your private health insurance card you can swipe it and have the refund paid immediately.  You will only need to make the gap payment.

What happens if I am running late?

Our aim is that everyone receives the attention they require and while achieving this we attempt to utilise all of our available time.  If you are running late please call ahead and our Receptionist will check with your Therapist to see if it is possible to still see you.  There may not be enough time to attend to your needs effectively.  If we rush you through your treatment is at best not helpful to you and at worst unsafe.  We can simply reschedule your appointment for a later time.

Is there a cancellation policy?

Yes.  We would be very grateful if you could give us at least 12 hours notice.  There are often other people waiting for cancellations and we can give them a bit of notice.  We understand that life throws obstacles in our path from time to time.  If you miss an appointment please call us and we can organize another appointment.  We often call people who miss their appointments just to see that they are OK.

Do I get a reminder about my appointment time?

Yes.  Every appointment triggers an SMS message to their mobile phone the day before their treatment. The message is a NO REPLY message so if you need to change your appointment or tell us something you will need to telephone our practice number.  If you prefer a phone call or email as a reminder we can do that as well.

Am I likely to be sore after my first treatment?

We attempt to avoid creating extra soreness for you when treating your injuries.   That said however there are some conditions for which some treatment techniques may produce light discomfort the following day.  It’s usually a “different” soreness not unlike exercise soreness.   If the possibility of this worries you please discuss it with your Physio so that they can adjust their treatment approach to suit you.

Do I have to see the same Physiotherapist I started out seeing?

There is no requirement for you to see the same Therapist each time you come in. We keep excellent accessible treatment notes and communicate very well with each other.  We are open for very long hours and as a result we are never all here at the same time.  If your schedule is such that you need to change therapists then the transition will be easy for you and for us.  No one gets upset if you see someone else the next time.  Whatever is best for you will suit us fine.
